Perfect Pound Cake…

…so entitled because I’ve made so many cake flops before that I can now share some fool proof tips.

I remember the first cake I made. It was a chocolate cake for my then-boyfriend’s 16th birthday party. Embarrassed, I presented a platter full of crumbled cake-pieces and stuck candles in it.

Baking cakes is a feat I was determined to conquer, simply because it was a memorable thing to walk in my parents’ house and have Dad point to the batter bowl he’d saved for us (to fight over!). He made cakes to make us feel special on so many occasions, and I’d love to do the same for my daughter. I adore this picture of Dad teaching my daughter to bake her first cake, so I had to share!

So after dry birthday cakes, over cooked, under-cooked and completely tasteless, I think I’ve come across the perfect combination of recipe directions that leave me without error.

This is an easy printable recipe card, and hopefully the video shows how everything should look at each stage. Happy baking!
